Patrol: Taser used on teen questioned about drinking beer after ID request refused

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. — WFTV obtained video of a teenager who was shocked with a Taser during a confrontation with beach patrol in Daytona Beach Thursday.

The Volusia County Beach Safety Ocean Rescue said officers approached the teen, questioned him about drinking beer and asked him for identification.

The teen refused to show his ID to officers and became aggressive, said authorities.

The video shows the teen yelling and resisting when officers tried to calm him down.

Officers said they tried to arrest him, but he resisted and continued to act aggressively.

Authorities said the teen was warned several times to calm down or he would be shocked with a Taser.

At that point, his friends began yelling at the patrol officers as well.

Volusia County Beach Safety Ocean Rescue said it had to call the Daytona Beach Police Department for assistance.

The name of the teen was not released.
