Poinciana Resident Mark Alexander says it’s about time.

“It’s just ridiculous down here man,” Alexander said. “These roads can’t handle it.”

Alexander is referring to what he says are daily traffic jams on Poinciana Blvd.

According to census data, Osceola County’s population grew by more than 30 percent over the last decade to just under 70,000 people in 2020, and is only expected to keep growing.

The improvements to Poinciana Blvd. would include a grassy median, 10-foot sidewalk and seven-foot bike lanes.

“That’s perfect,” Alexander said. “Especially when traffic backs up, you can ride all the way down.”

The total price tag for the project is $60 million.

Alexander says it’s a small price to pay for improvements that are long overdue.

“We really need to get these lane changes down here man,” Alexander said.
