On Monday, the state average fell to $3.77 for a gallon of regular unleaded, according to AAA.

That’s a 14-cent drop from one week ago.

Since setting a record high of $4.89 a gallon on June 13, the cost of gas in Florida is down $1.12.

To put it in perspective, eight weeks ago it would have cost you more than $73 to fill up your average-sized, 15-gallon gas tank.

If you’re hitting the gas station on Monday, you’ll spend almost $17 dollars less — or $56.55 total — to fill up that same tank if you’re filling up at the current state average.

“Falling oil prices and drooping gasoline demand has paved the way for the recent pump price plunge,” AAA’s Mark Jenkins said.

He added that there appears to be more good news on the horizon.

“The downturn should continue this week, after another round of big losses in both oil and gasoline futures markets.”
