St. Cloud mother accused of purposely burning child

ST. CLOUD, Fla. — Channel 9 has learned a St. Cloud mother and day care owner is accused of purposely burning her young daughter's hands on a stove.

Yashira Estrella-Ramos, 32, owns the Kids World on Wisconsin Avenue. Police are investigating after she was accused of burning her 4-year-old child after the tot spilled some bleach.

“She had opened the oven door while she was cooking and she took her daughters hands and put them inside the oven and had the tops of her hands touch the broiler, which was about 500 degrees,” said Stacie Miller of the Kissimmee Police Department.

Now, authorities are looking into whether there could be other cases.

Parents heard about the allegations, but say they aren’t rushing to judgment.

When Channel 9’s Myrt Price knocked on the front door of Estrella-Ramos’ day care, family friend Von Patrick said she didn’t want to talk.

“Allow the community to know their children are safe here,” Patrick said. “As you guys dig more into the story, you'll find how preposterous these allegations are."

Estrella-Ramos is out of jail on bond.

Authorities said the child she suffered second-degree burns. The Department of Children and Families is investigating.
