Video shows school bus driver slapping child

PENSACOLA, Fla. — A Pensacola school bus driver was arrested on child cruelty charges for slapping a special needs student, authorities said.

Cameras recorded the incident and showed a 9-year-old boy wrestling with his brother on the bus and the driver asked the boys to stop.

The video shows the boy hit the bus driver, who then slapped him in return.

The boys' mother, Timisha Cotton, said the driver should not have hit her child.

"I don't even want her working with children, period. He has a developmental delay. He has hearing loss," said Cotton.

The bus driver is out on bail.

She was placed on paid leave and will not have any contact with children until the investigation is over.
