The trooper said “Well I’ll be,” and the statement was caught on his body camera when he realized he had stopped Louisiana State Police Col. Lamar Davis, WBRZ reported.

The incident happened on June 29.

Davis, who is the superintendent of the Louisiana State Police, was allegedly going more than 90 mph on the Atchafalaya Basin Bridge between Baton Rouge and Lafayette, Louisiana.

The speed limit is set at 60 mph in the same stretch of roadway.

Video released at the request of WBRZ and WAFB showed a blue light inside Davis’ car being turned on as he was being pulled over.

The video cuts off shortly after the trooper leaves his cruiser and recognizes the other vehicle’s driver, WBRZ reported.

Dashcam video shows the two men speaking, but there is no audio on the clip.

The two men shake hands and within 30 seconds of Davis leaving the vehicle, he gets back in and gets ready to drive off, WAFB reported.

Davis was not ticketed for driving 30 mph over the speed limit. State Police officials released a statement, saying: “Colonel Davis was stopped for a traffic violation on June 28th, 2022 while traveling west on Interstate 10 in the Troop A area.  The Trooper utilized his discretion and did not issue a citation,” WBRZ reported.
