Universal announces new opening plan for Epic Universe theme park after pandemic delay

ORLANDO, Fla. — Central Florida theme park options are once again set to get more “epic.”

Universal is now set to fully open its third Central Florida theme park by the summer of 2025.

Comcast leaders discussed the opening of Epic Universe during an earnings call on Thursday.

Channel 9 has reported that the COVID-19 pandemic had pushed back plans for the new park.

Epic Universe will feature a new theme park, an entertainment center, hotels, shops, restaurants and more, according to Universal.

The park will be located a few miles from Universal Orlando’s current theme parks.

“Our vision for Epic Universe is historic,” Tom Williams, chairman and CEO of Universal Parks & Resorts, said when the project was announced. “It will build on everything we have done and become the most immersive and innovative theme park we have ever created.”

Officials also revealed Thursday that Comcast reported the most profitable fourth quarter on record for its theme parks.
