FedEx employee falls asleep loading plane, ends up in Texas

A FedEx airport ground crew employee was taken into custody at Lubbock Preston Smith International Airport after falling asleep while loading a plane and waking up mid-flight.

The crew member reportedly fell asleep inside the plane after loading it at Memphis International Airport, according to FOX13 affiliate FOX34 in Lubbock.

The employee woke up before the flight landed in Lubbock and knocked on the closed cockpit door.

He was taken into custody by airport police as a precaution, according to FOX34.

FedEx released a statement on the incident that read: "We are aware of an incident involving FedEx Flight 1459 from Memphis to Lubbock.  There was never any danger to our employees or cargo. We are fully cooperating with investigating authorities."
