Florida Lottery celebrates record $2.3 billion to support education in the state

ORLANDO, Fla. — The Florida Lottery is celebrating a new record.

Lottery officials said it has put a record $2.3 billion towards education during the most recent fiscal year.

Florida leads the nation in lotto sales with $9.3 billion in sales over the last year.

More eyes are on the lottery with the Mega Millions jackpot up to around $785 million.

Tuesday’s drawing will be the fourth-largest Mega Millions jackpot in the game’s history.

Only three previous Mega Millions jackpots have gone above the $700 million mark.

All three times those jackpots grew past $1 billion.
