Florida medical board bans certain transgender treatments for minors

ORLANDO, Fla. — Doctors in Florida can no longer provide underage patients with certain transgender treatments.

The state board of medicine approved that rule on Friday.

It affects treatments like puberty blockers, hormone therapy and surgery.

Critics of the new rule said those treatments can be “lifesaving.”

However, Florida’s surgeon general calls them “risky.”

These new rules do not affect people already receiving these treatments.
