KISSIMMEE, Fla. — A 16-year-old Kissimmee boy was in jail Tuesday on charges he stabbed a 22-year-old man to death over a woman they were both romantically involved with, deputies said.

Luis Pagan was allegedly involved with Kevin Rojas’ live-in girlfriend at Heritage Park Inn on East Irlo Bronson Memorial Highway, investigators said.

At some point Tuesday morning, there was a confrontation between the two that turned violent and Pagan allegedly stabbed Rojas to death, the Osceola County Sheriff's Office said.

“This came as a shocker, because Kevin is a really good guy,” neighbor Jessy Velez said. “Or was a really good guy.”

Rojas had a 3-year-old son with his girlfriend and it upset Velez to think about the boy having to grow up without his father.

“He’s not going to have his dad,” she said. “And then the family is just torn apart. It’s really sad.”

Pagan was later arrested and charged in connection with Rojas’ death.

Velez had not seen the boy at the motel before and didn’t realize Rojas and his girlfriend had any problems that could have escalated into this type of situation.

“They’re just young and it could have completely been avoided,” she said. “You know, for something like this to happen, it’s not worth it at all.”
