2 hurt in downtown Orlando shooting, police say

ORLANDO, Fla. — Police are investigating a shooting near the heart of downtown Orlando.

Officers responded to the area of North Court Avenue and East Pine Street around midnight Sunday.

Orlando police told Eyewitness News that a fight led to the shooting, which left two people hurt.

Officers said after locating a woman along Court Avenue who had been shot, they quickly learned of a possible description of the shooter.

OPD said officers took the suspect into custody a short time later at nearby East Church Street and Orange Avenue.

A man was also injured when he was grazed by a bullet, investigators said. Officers located him inside Celine nightclub along South Magnolia Avenue.

Both victims were taken to a hospital and are expected to recover.

Police told Channel 9 they believed the victims did not know the shooter.

OPD did not release names of those involved in the incident or say what charges the shooter is facing.
