ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. — A teenage fight escalated to an ambush when a family said two men fired 22 shots at their Orange County home.
Some of those bullets narrowly missed where a baby had been sleeping earlier that night in their Lake Nona home in the Moss Park area.
The family said they know who pulled the trigger and told deputies about Saturday night’s incident.
A resident of the home, who asked not to be identified, said he opened the door to the shooter and an accomplice.
The two men asked about the resident’s younger brother.
“When I fully opened the door, I answered the door and said, ‘Yes, the kid lives here,’” he said.
With that, he said one man stepped to the side and the other pulled out a gun.
He slammed the door and took cover.
“He left about 13 shots or better. They just showed up to the house and ran off,” said the resident.
He found out later that his 19-year-old brother had gotten into a fight with the alleged shooters at a party earlier that night.
The family believes the gunfire was a retaliation.
There were 22 shots in all, one hitting the swing where a 6-month-old baby had been sleeping earlier that night.
“If my son would have been in that swing, I wouldn’t have a son right now,” said the victim.
Orange County deputies are still investigating and have not made any arrests.
“I just want them to be caught and to be prosecuted because what they did, that’s not even fair,” said a woman who lives in the home.
The family does not know what started the fight that led to the shots.
