Three escape Orange County house fire

ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. — The fire marshal will sift through the rubble of an Orange County house Tuesday to try to find out what started a fire that destroyed the home.

When firefighters arrived at the home on Bumby Avenue at about 11 p.m. Monday, they said at least half of the house was on fire.

Three people living in the home were able to get out unharmed, said firefighters.

Next-door neighbor Ricky Wood said he smelled smoke and saw the fire when he went outside.

"I just heard crackling and smoke and i could smell the wires burning. The flames were going out above the trees back there and they were coming out over the wall on the backside. They were pretty high," said Wood.

The owner had been renovating the home and was just a few days away from finishing the project, fire officials said.

No one was injured.
