DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. — Rapper 50 Cent says he will help get a man accused of threatening Rick Ross’ son with a gun and striking him in the head out of jail.
The offer came in an Instagram post hours after Channel 9 first reported the alleged attack Tuesday morning.
The suspect, Don Roberts II, is expected in court Wednesday afternoon. He faces felony charges including aggravated assault and aggravated battery with a deadly weapon, according to police.
50 Cent offers legal help
In his Instagram post, 50 Cent mocked Rick Ross and questioned why his son contacted police rather than his father.
He also offered to bail the suspect out and said he was sending Atlanta-based attorney Drew Findling to help. The rapper characterized the case as a “big misunderstanding.”
The post does not establish that Findling has formally joined the case or that the suspect has been released.
Police report details alleged attack
According to the police report, William Roberts III, Rick Ross’ son, was standing with a woman near McLeod Avenue and Weaver Street on Oct. 11 when a gray car pulled up.
Roberts told police the driver pointed a gun at him and threatened to kill him before striking the right side of his head with the firearm.
The report described minor swelling. Roberts declined medical attention.
He later identified the suspect in a photographic lineup, according to investigators. Police reviewed city camera footage, but the alleged attack was not captured on video.
Roberts is listed on Bethune-Cookman University’s 2025 football roster. His current enrollment status was not immediately clear.
Court appearance expected Wednesday
Channel 9 plans to attend Wednesday afternoon’s hearing.
Reporter Demie Johnson has contacted representatives for Rick Ross and 50 Cent for comment and is awaiting responses.
