AAA: Florida gas prices down nearly 3 cents after reaching record highs

ORLANDO, Fla. — The price of a gallon of gas in Florida continues to drop after hitting record highs last week.

According to AAA, the average price for gasoline in Florida is $4.48 per gallon, down from $4.51 a week ago.

Mark Jenkins with AAA says even though gas prices are dropping, look for record-high prices this Memorial Day weekend.

“Even though pump prices have moved slightly lower, gas prices on Memorial Day are still forecast to be the holiday’s most expensive yet,” Jenkins said.

AAA expects 100,000 more Floridians to take a road trip this Memorial Day despite the historically high gas prices.

Last year, the average price of gas was $2.86 per gallon with a state average of $2.60 in 2019 and $2.91 in 2018.

The highest Memorial Day average gas price was set in 2008 at $3.93 per gallon.
