AAA: Florida gas prices up slightly from a week ago

According to AAA, the average price for gasoline in Florida is $3.23 per gallon up from $3.22 a week ago.

Mark Jenkins with AAA says despite a surge in oil prices, the prices at the pump have been slow to follow.

“It’s possible that the seasonable downturn in gasoline demand has helped pump prices resist the upward pressure from the oil market,” Jenkins said.

He did caution that with the current trend, it is only a matter of time before the price of gas catches up with the increases.

Experts say crude oil has risen as much as 14% this year with the price per barrel at $86.96.
