Terry Shaw, who oversees the Altamonte Springs-based nonprofit health system’s national footprint, announced his upcoming July 2025 retirement in a video to employees on Dec. 13.

The decision comes as Shaw — who has been with AdventHealth for more than 40 years — sought to create an opportunity for younger leaders in the company.

“When I joined AdventHealth over 40 years ago, I never imagined the profound joy, challenges and sense of purpose this career would bring,” Shaw said in the message.

“Our mission of providing whole-person care as a faith-based organization has always been more than just a brand promise — it has been the core of everything we do. Leading this incredible organization has been the honor of my lifetime. My decision to retire clears the path for the very capable next generation of AdventHealth leaders and I am fully confident in the ability of these leaders to continue our legacy of success.”
