Baldwin Park Publix deli aisle brawl caught on camera

BALDWIN PARK, Fla. — A verbal altercation in the Baldwin Park Publix parking lot Monday led to a fistfight in the store's deli aisle, according to Orlando police.

Edwin Colon, 46, said he was trying to pull into a parking space when a pregnant woman, who was loading her child into her car, left her shopping cart in the open space.

Colon said he asked her to move it and she began cursing at him. Donna Bankstahl, who witnessed the argument, told police that Colon was yelling and cursing at the pregnant woman to move the cart. The woman called her husband on her cellphone.

Police said Colon had gone into the store to purchase a sandwich from the deli when an unknown man walked up to him and put his face close to Colon's. Bankstahl identified the man as the pregnant woman's husband.

Colon said the man started poking his face so he pushed him away to create space. The man advanced towards Colon and a fight broke out, police said.

"Absolutely curious to see what could make two grown men fight each other at a Publix around a bunch of people that have nothing to do with it," shopper Cory Collier said.

Colon and the man were separated by workers and onlookers shortly afterward.

Colon said the pregnant woman and her husband left the store in an SUV after the fight.

No injuries were reported and no arrests have been made, police said.
