Bishop Moore Catholic, Edgewater football matchups canceled due to ‘inappropriate’ social media post

ORLANDO, Fla. — A set of high school football matchups set for Thursday has been canceled due to the “inappropriate nature of a social media post,” according to Bishop Moore Catholic High School’s Facebook page.

The freshman and junior varsity football games between Bishop Moore Catholic and Edgewater high schools were canceled, Bishop Moore said in a Facebook post.

“The comment made on social media has been addressed by the school administration and local law enforcement,” the post reads. “Please speak to your children about the importance of responsible and mature social media use that reflect our Catholic values.”

It was not immediately clear what the social media post specifically said.

Edgewater High School’s athletic department also acknowledged cancelation of both games via social media, but a Twitter post shortly before 7 p.m. Thursday did not offer an explanation.

At last report, Friday night’s varsity football matchup between the two schools was still on schedule for 7 p.m.
