Brevard Public Schools names new superintendent

VIERA, Fla. — Brevard Public Schools has selected a new superintendent after months of searching.


The Brevard County School Board has picked Dr. Mark Rendell as its new leader.

Rendell is the principal of Cocoa Beach Junior-Senior High School and a former superintendent of Indian River County Schools.

The Brevard County School Board voted 3-2 Tuesday in favor of Rendell.

The school board hired a consultant and conducted a national search before landing on the only local candidate.

Rendell will be at school board headquarters Tuesday afternoon to begin contract negotiations.
