TITUSVILE, Fla. — Brevard County Government Complex North, in Titusville, is showing its age. The 58-year-old building is home to the offices of the Brevard County Property Appraiser, the Brevard County Tax Collector, the Brevard County Supervisor of Elections and others.
Brevard County Property Appraiser Dana Blickley says the building is also plagued with water leaks, power failures, plumbing problems, and a host of other issues.
She recently shared her concerns with county commissioners at their final budget hearing on Tuesday. She told us, “So we have plumbing issues, we have electrical issues, we have flooding, we have water intrusion, we have windows that do not seal.
We have HVAC issues.” Both Blickley and Tax Collector Lisa Cullen have plans to move their computer servers to the county’s Emergency Operations Center at the beginning of the new fiscal year. Cullen said, “It scares me to death to have them in here.”
Blickley and Cullen have also decided to have engineers come in and conduct a number of inspections for structural and air integrity, water intrusion, and mold for their employees.
In the meantime, Brevard County Commissioners have directed staff to closely examine the concerns raised by the elected constitutional county officers.
