Brevard County humanitarian making trip to Haiti to pick up friend, drop off supplies

BREVARD COUNTY, Fla. — The leader of a Brevard County-based nonprofit is on his way to Haiti on a humanitarian mission.

Joe Hurston with Air Mobile Ministries will be delivering hundreds of pounds of food, clothing and other supplies just in time for Christmas, and he’ll be returning with a missionary in need of a way home.

Hurston is known for delivering water purifiers all around the world, but he was called to this particular mission by an old friend and fellow missionary in need of a way out of Haiti.

But it’s not like Hurston to arrive anywhere empty-handed. He’ll be bringing “clothes, and food, old tennis balls for the kids,” he said.

“We have a really good load and it’s really perfect,” Hurston said. “We’re going to get in there just before Christmas. So, what we have in the airplane is going to make a lot of people happy in Haiti.”

Hurston hopes to be back in 48 hours.

Hurston said he’s taking every precaution he can this trip and, above all, trusting in God.
