High-speed crash leaves 2 people dead in Saturday morning crash, troopers say

BREVARD COUNTY, Fla. — The Florida Highway Patrol is investigating a fatal crash that happened early Saturday morning in Brevard County.

The crash happened on southbound I-95 near the St. Johns Heritage Parkway at 2:20 a.m.

According to troopers, a Dodge Hellcat was traveling south above the posted speed limit and slammed into the back of a Dodge Ram pickup, causing the truck to leave the highway and overturn.

The Hellcat overturned multiple times, ejecting the male driver, troopers said.

The 33-year-old driver of the Hellcat and a 25-year-old female passenger of the pickup were pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the pickup, a 25-year-old male, and two other occupants were transported to the hospital with what were considered to be minor injuries.

The driver of the Hellcat was not wearing his seat belt, according to troopers.
