Window blinds store in Rockledge shifts to making mask covers for health care workers

ROCKLEDGE, Fla. — For nearly 40 years, Blinds Of All Kinds in Rockledge, has created custom blinds, shutters and drapery.

The Brevard County business is now using its showroom as an assembly line to produce mask covers for Health First.

“We’ve diverted staff from their normal jobs and we’re all in an assembly line to manufacture these masks for Health First,” said Christine Brown, with Blinds Of All Kinds.

The showroom at Blinds Of All Kinds is currently closed to the public, but employees are still busy at work, creating covers for N95 respirator masks, averaging 100 to 150 mask covers per day.

“We realized we had the ability to make this happen and for our local area and we started putting together a prototype and we reached out to health first which we've been a vendor for years,” Brown said.

Officials said Health First provided the material to make the mask covers. It’s a two-ply-spun polypropylene typically used as sterile wrapping for surgical instrument trays before they pass through gas sterilization or an autoclave.
