ORLANDO, Fla. — Brightline is adding a new fare option for passengers traveling to or from Orlando who want more flexibility when changing or canceling trips.
The rail company announced Wednesday that its new FLEX fares are now available in both SMART and PREMIUM service.
Passengers traveling to or from Orlando can now choose among FLEX, SELECT and, for SMART service, SAVER fares.
What comes with a FLEX fare?
Brightline said FLEX fares can be canceled at any time for a full refund to the passenger’s original form of payment.
Trips can also be changed before the day of departure without a change fee, although passengers would still pay any difference in fare.
On the day of travel, FLEX customers can switch to another departure on the same date at no additional charge.
FLEX fares also include one large bag, two carry-on bags and a personal item.
Passengers traveling through South Florida can also receive a complimentary one-way airport transfer between MiamiCentral and Miami International Airport or between Brightline’s Fort Lauderdale station and Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport.
How the other fares compare
SELECT fares offer more limited flexibility. Passengers who cancel receive 75% of the fare as credit in their Brightline Wallet. Changes are allowed with a fee plus any applicable fare difference.
SAVER, available only in SMART service, is Brightline’s least-flexible option. Those fares can be canceled but do not retain any credit and cannot be modified.
Brightline said the onboard and station experiences associated with SMART and PREMIUM service remain unchanged.
“We understand that travel plans can change, sometimes unexpectedly,” Brightline Vice President of Sales Julie Sharenow said. “By expanding choice and giving travelers greater control over their journeys, we’re making it easier for our guests to travel on their terms.”
Brightline currently connects Orlando with West Palm Beach, Boca Raton, Fort Lauderdale, Aventura and Miami.
