ORLANDO, Fla. — Several congressional offices have reported receiving suspicious packages as similar incidents are investigated across the country.
UPDATE 3:52 PM
U.S. Rep. Darren Soto has independently confirmed to Channel 9 that his office also received a suspicious package similar to those sent to other elected officials across the country.
See his statement below:
Today, our office received an envelope with a suspicious substance. Thankfully, Congressman Frost’s office gave us advance notice to monitor our mail. The envelope was intercepted by local law enforcement, and no staff was hurt. We are working with federal, state, and local law enforcement to support an investigation. Political violence has no place in our democracy, and we hope those who perpetrated this crime are brought to justice.
