Coronavirus: How to report social distancing, business violations in Central Florida: a county-by-county breakdown

ORLANDO, Fla. — Central Florida is working to flatten the curve and find the best response to the coronavirus pandemic, and big changes have been put into place to help.

Gov. Ron DeSantis has signed orders limiting what businesses can be open and limiting how many people are allowed to gather in groups.

All reports about business that are in violation of the governor’s executive order should be given to the state’s Department of Business and Professional Regulations by calling 850-487-1395.

Residents can also call the non-emergency phone number for the sheriffs’ office in their county to make them aware.

Here is the best way to report possible violations across all counties in Central Florida:

Orange County is currently under a curfew from 11 p.m. to 5 a.m and a stay-at-home order that is in effect until April 9. Because of the order, resident are asked to avoid non-essential travel and non-essential businesses are asked to close.

Any business violations or people not following social distancing guidelines should call the Orange County Sheriff’s Office non-emergency phone number at 407-836-4357.

Osceola County is also under a curfew from 11 p.m. to 5 a.m, but is not under a stay-at-home order.

Deputies advise resident to call 911 for an emergency, but other issues can be reported by calling the Osceola County Sheriff’s Office non-emergency phone number at 407-348-2222.

Deputies said violation of such orders are a second-degree misdemeanor, and for any enforcement action the violation must be witnessed by a deputy or officer.

Seminole County enacted a new social distancing executive order that places conditions on businesses and limits social gatherings to 10 people or less.

To report a violation of this order, residents should call the non-emergency line for the respective jurisdiction in which the violation occurred. Violations must be reported in real time for law enforcement to observe the violations and issue a warning or citation.

Lake County residents should dial 911 in an emergency, and can also call the Lake County Sheriff’s Office non-emergency phone number at 352-343-2101.

Marion County is not under a curfew and has advised businesses to close based on the governor’s order.

Anyone who wants to report a possible violation is asked to call the Marion County Sheriff’s Office non-emergency phone number at 352-732-9111.

Resident are asked to use common sense and to call 911 for an emergency.

Sumter County says residents should report any business violation to Florida’s Department of Business and Professional Regulations and can also inform deputies by calling the Sumter County Sheriff’s non-emergency phone number at 352-793-2621.

For concerns over national guidelines on social distancing, Sumter County has no codes or orders to enforce, but is making an effort to educate the public after a request is made.

Flagler County has closed its beaches, parks and libraries to help slow the spread of coronavirus. Residents who want to report any possible violations can call the Flagler County Sheriff’s Office non-emergency phone number at 386-313-4911.

Volusia County says any issues about reports of large gatherings, or businesses that are in violation, can be reported by calling the Volusia County Sheriff’s Office non-emergency phone number at 386-248-1777.

Brevard County residents can inform deputies by calling the non-emergency dispatch numbers based on their location in the county.

Brevard County Sheriff’s Office’s non-emergency numbers are South Brevard at 321-952-6371, Central Brevard at 321-633-7162 and North Brevard at 321-264-5100.
