BREVARD COUNTY, Fla. — A couple is accused of forcing their way into a cruise ship cabin and attacking three people, including a 9-year-old child.
Gannon Jacox and Brooklyn Hicks were arrested following the confrontation, according to the Brevard County Sheriff’s Office.
Sheriff Wayne Ivey said the incident began when Jacox and Hicks were arguing loudly after consuming alcohol. One of the victims reportedly asked the couple to be quieter.
Confrontation moves inside cabin
Investigators said Hicks went to confront the victims while Jacox followed with his cellphone and recorded the interaction.
The couple then allegedly pushed their way inside the victims’ cabin, where a 9-year-old child was present.
Ivey said Jacox struck all three occupants, including the child, during the ensuing fight. Hicks also allegedly punched one of the victims several times.
An arrest affidavit states that Hicks entered the cabin without permission while Jacox was actively attacking the occupants. Investigators said one victim had red marks on her face following the confrontation.
None of the victims suffered serious injuries, according to the sheriff’s office.
Charges filed
Jacox faces charges of burglary with battery and child abuse without great bodily harm.
Hicks faces charges of burglary with assault or battery and misdemeanor battery.
The sheriff’s office did not identify the cruise line or ship involved in the incident.
