PORT CANAVERAL, Fla. — The MSC Seaside had its inaugural voyage from Port Canaveral last month. The ship also had a visit from a CDC inspector as part of the agency’s Vessel Sanitation Program.

Multiple violations resulted in a score of 67 out of 100 for the ship. A score of 85 or lower is considered unsatisfactory.

The inspector noted housekeeping records indicated vomit and fecal cleanups in two different cabins, a vomit in the medical center, and vomits in the hospital.

But, there was no documentation in the medical center of these incidents or medical follow-up with the individuals who became sick.

A spokesman for MSC Cruises told Eyewitness News, “MSC Cruises rigorously adheres to health protocols, and the results of this inspection do not reflect the brand’s high standards.

We launched an internal investigation based on the inspector’s concerns and took immediate corrective actions.” The cruise line added, it’s received high scores on this type of inspection for the past twenty years across its fleet.
