Downtown Orlando prepares for flood of visitors during big event weekend

ORLANDO, Fla. — March Madness kicked off in downtown Orlando on Thursday.

The college basketball games are just the beginning of a busy next few days.

Between the tournament and Saint Patrick’s Day on Friday, the city is expecting some big crowds.

From the hotels to the local shops and restaurants March Madness games are expected to be a boom for local businesses.

There will be eight teams total playing games at the Amway Center and businesses hope fans will become their customers.

Downtown Orlando is bracing for big crowds, which means a big boost to local businesses.

The first round of March Madness will get underway at the Amway Center just after 12:40 p.m.
