MARION COUNTY, Fla. — A 29-year-old man from Ocala died Wednesday morning after being struck by a vehicle in a hit-and-run crash on County Road 200A in Marion County.
The driver, identified as 29-year-old Matthew Boardman of Marion County, returned to the scene approximately one hour later in the damaged vehicle.
Boardman admitted to being the driver and leaving the crash site, according to authorities.
He was charged with leaving the scene of a crash involving death.
The collision occurred at approximately 8:05 a.m. near NE 110th Street.
A silver Ford Explorer was traveling northbound on County Road 200A when the vehicle moved off the roadway to the right.
The front right portion of the Ford Explorer struck the pedestrian as he was walking along the east shoulder.
The pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene and the vehicle failed to stop following the impact.
Boardman will be booked into the Marion County Jail.
