Election 2020 timeline: Here’s what happened in the election on Nov. 5

ORLANDO, Fla. — The presidency remains undecided as several key states have not been called. According to The Associated Press, the following states don’t have a clear winner just yet: Nevada, Pennsylvania, Georgia, North Carolina and Alaska.

11:30 p.m. update

As the gap gets smaller and smaller between President Donald Trump and Joe Biden in these last few states, Channel 9 checked in with local Republican and Democratic party officials.

Gwen Graham with the Democrats and Christian Ziegler with the Republicans discussed where things stand as of Thursday evening.

8:30 p.m. update

Pennsylvania has less than 10% of its absentee ballots still to be counted, according to data posted on the state’s official election site.

Several hundred thousand votes remain uncounted in Pennsylvania, an election official said Thursday evening.

4:15 p.m. update

Nevada elections officials said there are approximately 190,000 ballots are left to counted. They said about 90% are from Clark County.

3:30 p.m. update

George election officials said there are an estimated 48,000 votes left to be counted in the state.

Georgia election officials are providing an update on ballot counting in the state.

11:05 a.m. update

Georgia election officials said Thursday morning that they are about 60,000 votes left to be counted in the state.

“Fast is great, and we appreciate fast. We more appreciate accuracy,” an official said in a news conference.

Georgia election officials are providing an update on the state’s vote count right now.

8:50 a.m. update

Presidential race remains undecided nearly two days after Election Day

It’s been two days since the election and there is still no answer as to who will take home the presidency.

Over the last 24 hours, the U.S. got answers from two states: Wisconsin and Michigan. Both states were called for Biden.

Six other states are still too close to call while votes are being counted for each candidate.

6:45 a.m. update

Many races still too close to call

Many races are still too close to call in the presidential election. Currently, former Vice President Joe Biden is leading the race for the White House with 264 electoral votes, according to The Associated Press. President Donald Trump has 214 electoral votes.

The Associated Press has not called the following races: Alaska, Georgia, Nevada, North Carolina and Pennsylvania.

The Associated Press called Arizona in Biden’s favor, although many other news outlets have yet to call the race due to how close it is. Biden is leading Trump by about 69,000 votes in Arizona, according to The Associated Press.

It could be days before we know the results in North Carolina, Pennsylvania and Alaska.

4:30 a.m. update

Counting continues in several key states

Election workers are continuing to count votes in several key states Thursday.

Many states are just too close to call and have several thousands of more ballots that need to be counted. Most of the votes that have yet to be counted are mail-in ballots.

This year, there was an influx of mail-in ballots due to the ongoing pandemic.
