Family, friends remember well-known Osceola County barber found dead in pond

OSCEOLA COUNTY, Fla. — People in Osceola County are coming together to remember a man who was found dead after he went missing.

Deputies said Jose Malave-Lebron was found Friday in his car at the bottom of a retention pond near Waters Edge and Blue Bayou drives.

Friends said Malave-Lebron disappeared on Mother’s Day, and he was reported missing Tuesday.

A vigil was held Sunday for Jose Malave-Lebron in Buena Ventura Lakes.

His loved ones remembered him as a well-known barber and up-and-coming artist.

State troopers believe Malave-Lebron ran off the road and hit a utility box before driving into the water.

They are still investigating when the crash happened, and why.
