LAKE COUNTY, Fla. — Troopers are investigating after a deadly hit-and-run crash Wednesday in Lake County.

At approximately 1:47 p.m., Florida Highway Patrol arrived on the scene of the crash, according to a report.
Early evidence showed a semi-truck was traveling eastbound on SR-44, where it lost control in an attempt to slow for a vehicle ahead of it.

The trailer attached to the semi veered into the westbound lane and collided with a 2014 Nissan Sentra that was traveling westbound on SR-44, according to FHP.
The impact caused the Sentra to be redirected into the eastbound lane in the direct path of a 2018 Ford F-450 and struck it head-on.
The driver of the semi-truck continued traveling eastbound and did not remain on the scene, according to troopers.

The driver of the Sentra was airlifted to a hospital where she was later pronounced dead.
The driver of the Ford F-450 was not transported and remained on the scene while the passengers in the vehicle were taken to the hospital with minor injuries.
