SEMINOLE COUNTY, Fla. — If you’ve lived in Central Florida for any length of time and have traveled Highway 17/92 in Fern Park, chances are you’ve spotted a go-kart place.
You know, the one that seems like it’s been there forever.
And if you ever thought to yourself, “That looks like fun -- I’ll have to try it out some time,” you’d better hurry.
The owners of Lil 500 Go Karts recently announced that come Jan. 8 they will close up shop.
“We hope to see you come out for one more ride,” a recent Facebook post said.
It also thanked those who have supported them over the past 54 years.
“It has been our honor and privilege to serve Central Florida,” the post said.
Whether you’ve been a regular or you’re just hoping to give Lil 500 a try before the owners put the brakes on for good, know this: You have until 7 p.m. Saturday to take a spin around the track that’s given locals more than five decades of fun.
