Flagler County traffic diverted from washout on A1A

Flagler County is protecting diverting traffic to protect turtles nesting.

FLAGLER COUNTY, Fla. — Crews are continuing to make road repairs from a washout on A1A, according to Flagler Beach police.

The washout diverted traffic from A1A, near the water tower and Clubhouse Drive, on Sunday, police said.

According to a news release, Florida Department of Transportation along with their local construction company partners are diverting traffic until Monday.

There are sea turtle nests near the washout and coordination is also underway to make the necessary repairs without any disruption of the nesting area, police said.

Turtle nesting in Florida occurs from June through late September.
