Bryan Griffin, a spokesman for DeSantis, confirmed the planned announcement Tuesday, which is scheduled to begin at 6 p.m. Wednesday.

The discussion will be audio-only.

DeSantis will join Sen. Tim Scott, R-S.C., former U.N. ambassador Nikki Haley and former President Donald Trump, who previously announced plans to seek the Republican nomination.

President Joe Biden announced in April that he was seeking reelection.

Trump spokeswoman Karoline Leavitt provided Channel 9 with the following statement Tuesday in reaction to DeSantis’ announcement:

“This is one of the most out-of-touch campaign launches in modern history. The only thing less relatable than a niche campaign launch on Twitter, is DeSantis’ after party at the uber elite Four Seasons resort in Miami.”
