Florida reports 6,017 COVID-19 cases, 67 virus-related deaths on Saturday

ORLANDO, Fla. — The Florida Department of Health reported 6,017 new COVID-19 cases on Saturday.

This is the third straight day with more than 6,000 cases reported in the state, with 6,490 added Friday and 6,790 reported Thursday.

Of the new cases added Saturday, 1,286 were in Central Florida.

State records show 2,077,032 COVID-19 cases have been recorded in Florida since the start of the pandemic.

State health officials also reported 67 new virus-related deaths, including one person who was not a Florida resident.

Of the new deaths reported, 14 were in Central Florida. Sumter County reported four deaths, and both Marion and Volusia counties added three.

State records show 34,652 people have died from COVID-19 complications in Florida since the start of the pandemic.

COVID-19 vaccination efforts also continue across the state.

Records show the state of Florida has administered 9,546,777 doses of COVID-19 vaccines and 6,208,000 people have received either one or two doses of the vaccine.
