Florida reports more than 8,400 new COVID-19 cases, 62 virus-related deaths in Central Florida alone

ORLANDO, Fla. — Florida health officials reported 8,408 new COVID-19 cases on Wednesday as well as 62 additional virus-related deaths in Central Florida alone.

The latest deaths include 30 in just Volusia County. According to the latest data, Orange and Polk counties both also saw double-digit death toll numbers, with each reporting 11 deaths on Wednesday.

The 169 deaths reported across the state bring the state’s total coronavirus death toll to 26,249.

The newest case numbers mean Florida has reported 1,676,171 cases of the virus since the pandemic began.
