OCALA, Fla. — The City of Ocala Recreation and Parks Department, in partnership with the Marion County Public Library System and the Ocali Storytelling Guild, will host the Fort King Haunted Trail on Saturday, Oct. 17.
The free, public event will run from 5 pm to 10 pm at Fort King National Historic Landmark, located at 3925 E. Fort King St.
The event is returning to Fort King after a five-year hiatus. The evening features family activities, outdoor storytelling, and a haunted trail experience.
Festivities begin at 5 pm with Family Fun in the Fort, featuring food trucks, field games, photo opportunities, and living history demonstrations. Families can also participate in trick-or-treating along the trail from 5 pm to 8 pm, with candy provided for children. Attendees are encouraged to wear family-friendly costumes.
At 7 pm, the Marion County Public Library System and the Ocali Storytelling Guild will present Phantoms in the Fort, featuring storytelling under the stars. Beginning at 8 pm, scare stations throughout the trail will open to guests.
Free off-site parking will be available at the Duke Energy Power Line Field, located approximately one-quarter mile east of Fort King between NE 43rd Avenue and NE 44th Avenue on the north side of East Fort King Street. Free shuttles and trams, including an ADA-accessible tram for guests with mobility needs, will run continuously throughout the event to transport visitors to and from Fort King.
