ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. — On Tuesday, Orange County leaders are set to discuss much-needed improvements to a major intersection dubbed the “worst in the county.”
The intersection where Gatlin, Holden, and Orange avenues meet is notorious for backups and accidents.

Metroplan has already approved improvements to the intersection, but Orange County has yet to agree on what the fix should be.

Some plans could lead to the loss of some parts of Cypress Park, which some residents have expressed concerns about.
Edgewood mayor John Dowless said residents and city leaders would like a fix sooner rather than later.
“We’ve been talking about this and studying it to death,” Dowless said.

Dowless said there have been discussions with the county, but none of the plans have been made public.
“We can solve a serious dangerous traffic issue, and we actually make the corner of that park even more desirable to go to,” he said.
The final report will be presented to commissioners at Tuesday’s Board of County Commissioners meeting.
