NATIONAL — Gas prices are on track to be the most expensive ever heading into an Election Day, according to GasBuddy.
The average gallon of gas is currently 42 cents higher than the average during the 2022 election, adding another affordability concern for drivers as voters prepare for the midterms.
The higher prices come amid continued uncertainty over the war with Iran and the risk of further escalation.
U.S. intelligence officials say Iran may be targeting American officials overseas. U.S. sources also say additional strikes in the Middle East could take place after the midterm elections.
Any further escalation could add uncertainty to oil and fuel markets, keeping gas prices in focus heading into Election Day.
