SUMTER COUNTY, Fla. - The Sumter County Sheriff’s Office has a new K9 and they need the community’s help naming the dog.

The dog is a 16-week-old male Bloodhound puppy that came from the Mayo Correctional Institute.

The sheriff’s office will hold a dog-naming contest on its Facebook page through Nov. 10 and the winning name will be announced Nov. 15. People can comment on the post, private message or email their name choice through the Facebook page.

In the meantime, the dog will go through training, learn tracking and scent detection before joining the sheriff’s office other Bloodhounds, Dallas and Libby.
