Man charged in connection with Clermont double homicide

LAKE COUNTY, Fla. — A man has been arrested and charged after two people were killed in Clermont Wednesday, according to the Lake County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies received a call around 2 p.m. Wednesday afternoon regarding a homicide on Jewelfish Road in the Thousand Trails Resort in Clermont.

A woman at the home told deputies that a man, later identified as 41-year-old Justin Lamar Jones, murdered his stepson in a travel trailer in the park on Wednesday, according to deputies. The female also told deputies that Jones had allegedly tied her up and sexually battered her throughout the day until she was able to escape.

Jones’ SUV was located in the parking lot of the Publix at Highway 27 and Hartwood Marsh Road in Clermont. Jones was spotted running on foot in the area of a nearby Walgreens. A foot chase ensued and Jones was taken into custody, deputies said.

Another body was located in the travel trailer as deputies were investigating, deputies said. Their identity has not been released.

Jones is being charged with kidnapping, sexual battery and two counts of first-degree murder.
