ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. — Hundreds of volunteers helped pack enough food to provide more than 111,000 meals during a 24-hour event benefiting Central Florida families, according to Second Harvest Food Bank of Central Florida.
Second Harvest said its second annual Hunger Never Sleeps event ran from the morning of Sept. 18 through Sept. 19 as part of Hunger Action Month.
The food bank said volunteers, community leaders and corporate groups sorted and packed enough food to provide 111,137 meals.
According to Second Harvest, the meals will be distributed through its community partners across Orange, Osceola, Brevard, Volusia, Seminole, Lake and Marion counties.
Second Harvest said it distributes enough food to provide about 300,000 meals each day across Central Florida.
