JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — A Mexican man previously convicted of sexual battery in Jacksonville has been sentenced to 2½ years in federal prison for illegally reentering the United States.
Miguel Solis-Morales, 43, was sentenced by U.S. District Judge Jordan E. Pratt, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Middle District of Florida.
Federal and state court records show Solis-Morales was convicted of sexual battery in September 2009. He was designated a sexual predator under Florida law and sentenced to five years in state prison.
After completing that sentence, immigration authorities deported him to Mexico in May 2015.
Authorities found Solis-Morales back in Jacksonville on Feb. 16, 2026, when the Florida Highway Patrol arrested him for violating state probation.
Investigators determined that he had not received permission from U.S. immigration authorities to legally return following his deportation.
Solis-Morales will be deported to Mexico after completing his federal prison sentence.
The Florida Highway Patrol and Homeland Security Investigations investigated the case. An assistant U.S. attorney prosecuted it.
