DELAND, Fla. — A Central Florida dog needs a temporary home while his owner is away on military deployment.
Operation Foster is looking for a foster family for Junior Mint, a 3½-year-old Boxer mix in DeLand.
The organization describes Junior Mint as sweet, cuddly and playful, with plenty of energy and a strong attachment to people.
The foster placement is needed from Sept. 12, 2026, through July 31, 2027.
Helping military families keep their pets
Operation Foster provides free, long-term foster care for pets belonging to active-duty service members who are deployed or away for training.
The organization also helps veterans who need extended hospital stays or time away for mental health care and recovery.
Founded in 2011, Operation Foster says it operates in all 50 states and has helped more than 3,500 pets and their owners.
The goal is to prevent military families from having to permanently surrender their pets because of deployments or other extended absences.
