Kona Poké, Wawa celebrate Melbourne grand openings with free ice cream, coffee

BREVARD COUNTY, Fla. — Both Kona Poké and Wawa announced this week that they are opening new locations in the Melbourne area and offering customers freebies in celebration of their grand openings.

Wawa on Thursday held a grand opening of its newest store on Viera Boulevard, east of Tavistock Drive, near Manatee Elementary School.

The first 100 customers will receive a free T-shirt, and all customers may enjoy free coffee through March 26.

The store employs about 50 workers.

The company said it plans to expand into the Florida Panhandle next

Kona Poké said it will open a new location March 25 at West New Haven and McClain Drive across from the Melbourne Square Mall.

The restaurant said its grand opening celebration will include a ribbon cutting, a wall mural signing, an art giveaway, DJ and free Dole soft serve ice cream throughout the day.

The ribbon cutting will be held at 11 a.m.

“The first 150 guests will receive a limited edition print of the wall mural signed by local artist Christopher Maslow, who will also be signing the wall mural at 3 p.m.,” the restaurant said in a news release.

DJ DVCATI will play on the restaurant’s patio from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Kona Poké also has locations in Sanford and Apopka and a Kona Poké Express in Melbourne Beach.

The restaurant will be open from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. daily.
