Lake County to host in-person graduation ceremonies after governor lessens youth activity restrictions

LAKE COUNTY, Fla. — The Lake County School District said it will host in-person graduations just days after announcing it would instead host drive-thru ceremonies due to COVID-19.

Their plans changed after Gov. Ron DeSantis announced that Florida would no longer restrict youth activities.

Instead of families watching from their cars and driving up to the stage when their graduates name is called, ceremonies will now be held in football stadiums.

Marion County Public Schools also plans to host ceremonies in football stadiums. Marion County officials said graduates will be on the field and will be spaced out in order to maintain social distancing.

Each graduating senior will be given two tickets, and they will be seated in the stands spaced out at least 6 feet apart.

Lake County leaders are working on details but said they believe they will be similar to what Marion County is doing.
